(audiobook)
It's fun getting back to childhood books. I've read Tom Sawyer at least 2-3 times when I was much younger, and it was always one of my favorite books. It was all in Russian back then though, so reading it now in English (as an audiobook taken from Librivox) was refreshing.
Tom Sawyer is one of the classic childhood adventure books, telling the story of Tom (a naughty youngster from the South of the US in the 19th century) and his many mischiefs. Surprisingly, reading this book as an adult is still lots of fun, not the least because of Mark Twain's wonderful writing style. Apart from keeping the book very interesting and flowing, Twain also manages to deliver the "boyish" way of thinking very well, and a lot of episodes shoot me back into childhood, recalling similar thoughts, wishes and behavior.
