After years of consciously avoiding social networks, a couple of weeks ago I've finally stopped resisting and joined Google+ (here's my account).
So, what prompted me to make this step?
Frankly, it's hard to ignore the fact that social networks these days offer some things in terms of communication, that aren't available by other means. Or to be more exact, once everyone jumped on the bandwagon, staying behind is a problem. People use this the medium (in place of others) to post a lot of content, which is hard to follow from the outside.
Why Google+? I was actually considering to open a Twitter account for the past few months, both to be able to follow people I'm interested in hearing from, and as a medium for posting pieces of information and discussions too small for the blog.
Then, Google+ came by and I figured I can use it like Twitter, just more conveniently. No arbitrary limits, more versatile posting options and just the right blend of features and privacy options is what ultimately convinced me.
