Book review: "Clear and present danger" by Tom Clancy

(read in Spanish)

"Clear and present danger" is your typical Tom Clancy novel. A fast moving plot on one hand, endless digressions on the other. Clancy has a unique talent to blow a 20-page plot to 500 pages, and yet keep it interesting to read. This is not something you can say about many authors.

In "Clear and present danger", the almighty Jack Ryan is a CIA subdirector in the midst of America's covert war against the drug cartels in Columbia. It has a nice mix of action and military know-how and is quite fun to read.

I've really enjoyed reading this one in Spanish, by the way. Clancy may be an ideal author to practice Spanish on, because he uses a relatively simple language and his books are interesting to read and fast-moving.
