I agree with the people who say that traditional public-key cryptography will dissipate in the near future. Once quantum computers are built, true non-deterministic automata will be simulated to easily crack factoring, discrete logarithm and friends.

However, quantum cryptography promises that data will be kept secret after all. By sending single, polarized photons through a fiber channel, one can assure reliable key distribution. The photons which represent the key bits can't be intercepted without the recipient noticing.

Quantum cryptography is brilliant, and breaking it defies the currently established laws of physics. I wonder how it will develop ? Can the NSA allow mass-marketization of truly unbreakable crypto tools ?
