arle,
As ripper said, my computer is relatively safe, because it sits behind a router with NAT. It is invisible to attacks from the internet, unless my applications explicitly go outiside. But that is protected with SyGate firewall. I had no problems with this setup for years.

Misha: it's the same comparison I linked to (he ripped it off :-) ), but thanks for the clarifications. I don't have or need multiple physical CPUs for now and MUIs *shudder* scare me (the Hebrew one especially)

<a href="http://www.williamaford.com/XPHomevsXPPro.php" rel="nofollow">Here</a> you have a nice comparison of features Home vs Pro.
Multiprocessor support in Home is limited to 1 physical processor. Multi core is ok.
Multiple language means installation of MUIs (full UI translated), not the keyboard layouts.

It is, unpatched windows machines get contaminated with high probability before they download all the patches. However, Eli is behind a router...

I don't really know why you'd want to install a pre-service pack 2 windows xp anyhow though, as that is when they had the firewall configured right out of the box. It might even be dangerous to leave a pre-patched xp system on the network for even the time it takes to upgrade it.
