Today I had a discussion with a friend at work about the advance in TVs and the ever-plunging prices. Although I don’t have a television myself (TV-free for 7 years and counting) I’m still amazed at the rapid pace at which this product is developing and transforming in recent years.

My friend told me that today you can buy a 40″ Full-HD Sony LCD TV - model KDL40D in Israel for about 14,000NIS ($3976), and with that receive a Sony PS3 for only 1,000NIS ($284).

And we wondered what kind of TV we’ll be able to buy for this sum 5 years from now.

So this post is a kind of a time capsule - I hope to reply to it in a post exactly 5 years from now (30.03.2013) with the answer.
