I should read this book again, it's loaded with all kinds of fascinating anecdotes.

If memory serves, at one point he describes people on low cholesterol diets being no better off because the decrease in risk of heart disease is almost exactly offset by an increase in risk of violent death. Apparently the body uses cholesterol to produce seratonin, a lack of which will make you more impulsive and foolhardy.

Highly recommended read.
