preparing to Ireland

The flight tickets and the car are booked. I eventually decided to go for an automatic transmission, because getting used to too many weird driving concepts at the same time can be painful. I guess that for the first time a right-sided wheel and left-side driving will be enough. I’ll leave manual transmission shifting with the left hand for later…

Another issue of interest is where to stay. Ireland, they say, has a plethora of bed n breakfast “hostels” sprinkled all around the country. The question is: should we pre-order or not. Most people say that we should not - just go, see a B&B on the road, stop - they’re likely to have vacancies. One guy, however, told me that I must pre-order since it’s August. But he’s over cautious :-)

That same guy also gave me Michelin’s travel guide for Ireland - so we’re starting to plan where exactly we want to go. A week is a pretty packed time-frame, so we should design the trip carefully to maximize the fun/time ratio. From the pictures and descriptions, Ireland seems to be a place I’ll *really* love.
