Oreilly released the first book on Perl 6, and I ask, isn’t it the typical race of reporters and media people to be the first, no matter what ?

Of what use is that book, if Perl 6 is not yet fully formed ? Just to be there first, IMHO.

I’m definitely not even going to look at “Perl 6 essentials”. My bet is that no one will remember of this book in a year or so, except for Oreilly’s marketing division, perhaps.
